Swiffer Duster

I enjoy these Swiffer commercials, actually, because of they're usage of awesome 80's songs.  And my gripe with this one is small, and I would like to thank my Sister Pam for her slight OCD/Purging methods for my train of thought on this one. Alright, so, again, nothing against the product itself, but my issue has to do with what this woman does with her old feather duster that she's 'never going to use again'....she goes up to her attic and puts it in a box. Okay. Back that truck up. If this item is something that you are never going to use again, why are you keeping it? I have seen enough episodes of Hoarders, and actually live 2 doors down from one and can see how detrimental this behaviour can be. Throw it in the garbage! Why are you keeping it? Is it a family heirloom? Are you going to pass this on to your kids??? I think not- toss it!!!! Do you keep things around, thinking that you'll 'use it someday'? And if so- I recommend you watch an episode of Hoarders....or come by for a visit and check out my neighbours' yard.

Bounce Dryer Bar

So, with this commercial, it's not so much that the product is stupid, it's what the 'tester-woman' has to say about her life and it's many 'tasks'.....The idea is, you stick this bar in your dryer, and it lasts about a month and it alleviates the need for dryer sheets. Good. Great. But the way this woman talks about using dryer sheets is absolutely ridiculous, like she has to walk 40 miles uphill both ways  to retrieve this dryer sheet, and that it is so absolutely time-consuming to place said sheet into the dryer.  "anything that saves me time, is a good thing"....really, does it take you that long to pluck a sheet out of a box and toss it gingerly into the dryer? This will save you time? hmph....I think she needs to re-learn how to do laundry....how about you?

First up: Crest, with Scope Outlast

Alrighty: here goes my first real post......
Opening scene is a young couple in their bathroom, getting ready to brush their teeth.  They make a bet about using the aforementioned toothpaste, something about chick-flicks, and him doing yoga. Fast forward a little bit, POST-brushing remember, and now they are sitting down in front of their movie with a huge bowl of popcorn on their lap. Why would you brush your teeth before sitting down to watch a movie and eat popcorn?? You brush your teeth after eating popcorn, especially floss, too! Doesn't make any sense. They could've come up with better proof on how long-lasting the toothpaste is, one that deosn't involve gross toothpaste-tasting popcorn. Thoughts???

let me break it down for y'all......

Greetings, and welcome to my little corner of the world-wide web. Being on Mat leave has left me with alot more tv time than ever before, and I have really started to loathe the stupidity that arises in commercials.  It can come about in many different ways: poor grammar, lack of continuity, or just plain ol' stupidity. If any of you have a favorite 'stup-ad' ( yeah, I came up with that), let me know and we can discuss it. Here's to intelligence! Cheers!
